LOAM CO-EDITORS
Kailea Loften (she/her) is a Black American, citizen of Liard First Nation and member of the Tsesk’ye clan from Nalokoteen (end of the ridge nation) of the Tahltan Nation. For the last decade she has worked at the intersections of climate justice, spiritual ecology and independent publishing. She has been the Co-Editor of Loam since 2019, and has guided climate change policy with an emphasis on Indigenous rights on local, national and international levels, previously serving as a Climate Commissioner for the City of Petaluma, and as the Climate Justice Organizer and Community Publisher for NDN Collective. Her publication, “Required Reading: Climate Justice, Adaptation and Investing in Indigenous Power” was recommended reading by the White House.
Kate Weiner (she/her) is the Co-Editor of Loam. As a writer, editor, and indie publisher, Kate has edited more than 20 publications on climate change, social justice, and community organizing. She is a 2018 Spiritual Ecology Fellow, a 2021 Artist/Activist-in-Residence at Boulder Public Library, and a 2023 Editorial Fellow at the Center for Humans & Nature. She has a certificate in Community Herbalism from Rootwork Herbals and in Climate Change and Public Health from the Yale School of Public Health. She has facilitated workshops on climate storytelling and community care in California, New York, and Colorado, and is currently collaborating with Kailea on a book on holistic disaster preparedness (Heyday 2025).
LOAM CO-CONSPIRATORS
Amirio Freeman (he/they) is a writer, interviewer, and audio storyteller who explores the relationship between humans and our beyond-human kin through a Black, queer lens. Amirio’s writing has been published in Broccoli Magazine, It’s Freezing in LA!, and Are.na Annual, among other publications. In partnership with Loam, they hosted the Loam Listen podcast from 2020-2022 as well as developed the Down to Earth Deck. Amirio is from coastal Virginia and currently resides in Philadelphia, PA, where they write their newsletter, PLANTCRAFT.
